Helping employees and employers alike avoid Workplace Burnout by utilising Mindfulness Practices, introducing ways to work more Mindfully, Productively and Efficiently while maintaining healthy Balance between Work and Life.

WORKPLACE BURNOUT IS REAL - AND IT’S GETTING WORSE

Workplace Burnout is at an all time high, and working from home is making it worse.

Google search data shows that online searches for the term ‘occupational burnout’ have increased by more than 2500% since 2015, and the Covid-19 pandemic is fuelling an even faster rise in work-related mental health issues.

Searches online for symptoms with terms such as ‘signs of burnout’ have already increased by 24% throughout 2020 compared to the previous year.

According to the Mental Health Foundation, 74% of UK adults have felt so stressed at some point over the last year (2020) they felt overwhelmed or unable to cope.

Workers are finding it difficult to draw the line of separation between work-life and home-life, and as a result feel unable to escape the pressures of the work day outside of office hours.

Employees are isolated, disconnected from their support system - and their inspiration system!

Burnout is total and utter mental, emotional and physical exhaustion, followed by disconnection and apathy, resulting in poor performance, along with long term physical and mental health issues.

Wellness in the workplace supports employees mental and physical health by helping provide structures, practices and outlets to avoid Burnout, prevent or release stress, develop strong self-care habits, prioritise balance, and overall to help employees feel supported and valued by their employers.

YOGA CLASSES & RELAXATION

Yoga is more than just stretching - there are 8 limbs to a Yoga practice and asana (postures) is just one of them! A regular Yoga practice encourages resilience, mindfulness and balance, making us feel better, think better, and work better.

I teach both dynamic ‘Vinyasa’ flow Yoga to energise and awaken the body and mind, and restorative ‘Yin’ Yoga and ‘Yoga Nidra’ (yogic sleep) to relax, rest and digest, and release stress. Real balance is found when we have both Yin and Yang in our lives!

Classes can be taught online via Zoom, Microsoft Teams or any other conferencing service - or in person (Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire & London) depending on travel/local lockdown restrictions.

Regular sessions, limited time courses and individual workshop options available. Get in touch to discuss your needs and how a Yoga programme can support your workforce.

MINDFULNESS MEDITATION

Mindfulness is the practice of quieting a busy mind, being present and aware, as well as accepting of thoughts and emotions. Developing mindfulness skills help people to better manage stress, without becoming overwhelmed or overly reactive.

A regular Mindfulness Meditation practice helps to improve focus, gain control over emotions, get better sleep, manage stress and cultivate better relationships.

I specialise in creative and visualisation based Meditation - and all of my sessions are designed to be accessible and relatable to beginners and regular practitioners alike.

Classes can be taught online or in person (Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire & London). Regular sessions, limited time courses and workshop options available. Get in touch and let’s create your bespoke Meditation programme.

benefits of a workplace wellness programme

REDUCES ABSENTEEISM

Happy, supported employees are thriving employees. Chronic stress, a lack of support from management and an imbalance of care all contribute to Burnout, and Burnout often results in extended periods of sick-leave. If untreated, the Burnout cycle continues over and over, and each Burnout is worse than the last.

MAINTAINS AND RETAINS TALENT

Often, when Burnout strikes, this results in the employee leaving the company either for mental and physical health reasons, or for another job or circumstance they believe will be different and give them the balance they crave. Even the brightest stars burnout - and your bottom line takes the hit as a result.

REDUCES STRESS & IMPROVES STRESS RESPONSE

We spend an inordinate amount of time in ‘fight or flight’ mode, and when on the verge of Burnout, we’re even more likely to enter ‘freeze’ mode. A regular Yoga and Meditation practice allows us to tap into the parasympathetic nervous system - ‘rest and digest’ mode - allowing the release of held tension in muscles, joints, connective tissues and organs.

BOOSTS PRODUCTIVITY

Mindfulness improves focus, and improved focus boosts productivity! A workforce that is not hampered by chronic stress, negativity and self-doubt, is a productive workforce.

IMPROVES CREATIVITY & CONFIDENCE

The mind is a muscle just like any other - and stretching it through Mindfulness works. Meditation has been proven to influence creativity by increasing cognitive flexibility.

IT SAVES - AND makes - YOU MONEY

A recent study found that for every £1 spent on supporting their people’s mental health, employers get £4.20 back on their investment. Investing in your workforce’s wellness means less strain on the financials of recruitment, cover for absenteeism and mistakes caused by chronic stress and exhaustion.

WORKPLACE WELLNESS REQUIRES COMMITMENT BEYOND A WEEKLY YOGA CLASS

The best intentions don’t always garner results when decisions are made in isolation.

As a consultant, I’ll be as brutally honest as I need to be. Yes - Yoga, Meditation, Mindfulness Workshops, these are all massively beneficial to your workforce and are proven to get you results.

But! A long term commitment to wellness in the workplace also involves listening and responding to the needs of your employees - this is when a Wellness Programme will be most effective.

CLIENT TESTIMONIALS

“Working with Maggie for our conference was a dream - she had so much warmth, insight and energy to share both one-on-one with delegates and as part of a larger panel for the full audience. I was also wildly grateful for her flexibility and professionalism on a very hectic day - she kept cool, went with the flow and delivered an incredible experience for everyone who attended. Highly recommend!”

Miriam Robinson, programme director, The Bookseller Marketing & Publicity Conference

“Maggie led an inspiring and actionable virtual session on burnout prevention and recovery for our members. All of the attendees were women working in live entertainment, and Maggie was able to bring her personal experience working in the same industry to the conversation. That really helped the group connect with her and see how this session was personally curated for us. Maggie’s session and all we learned will stick with us for a long time.”

Diana Salameh, Co-Founder, The Broadway Women’s Alliance

"Planning a running a meditation session for 100 people over Zoom takes a lot of ability and talent and Maggie delivered this in spades. From listening to the brief, to delivering the opening session of a day’s Zoom conference for a group of stressed and anxious people, Maggie shared a sense of positivity and possibility throughout."
